Under the Controlled Substances Act, which governs how we deal with all drugs in this country, no Schedule I drug may be prescribed as a medicine. Schedule I drugs are placed in this category because they have no recognized medical use and have a high potential for abuse. These drugs are illegal because they are dangerous, they are not dangerous because they are illegal.
