A final comment: Of all the reasons the Senator from Alaska has articulated today, I would put first among them the fact that we could well be at war to a much greater degree than we have been with Iraq in the very near future. We are going to have to have an alternate supply. If this bill could be passed, the exploration of that oil could occur in ANWR which would more than replace that Iraqi oil and begin to relieve our dependence on Middle East oil. It seems to me, not just as a matter of national energy policy but as a matter of national security, we ought to get on with the debate on the energy bill. I firmly support the effort of the Senator from Alaska to do so. I look forward to being able to debate it in the very near future.
