I am glad we are having the debate about the death tax. I regret the amendment I proposed a couple days ago was voted down. There were some suggestions it was because of the capital gains and dividends provisions that were tied to it. So I brought an amendment back with Senator Thune that would eliminate the capital gains and dividends part of it and simply have us vote, along with one education tax credit, for real reform to the death tax. Now, I want my colleagues on the Democratic side to appreciate--and I have certainly appreciated working with all three of them.
