John McCain: “Would you recommend that this policy be extended beyond its current expiration date of July 1, 2012?”

I want to say to all of you that I am so honored to be here to speak before this Committee.

Major General Robinson, the Air Force has reported a shortage of approximately 2,000 pilots, including a shortage of 950 fighter pilots, essentially unchanged since last year.

We owe each other our respect as long as our character merits respect.

I especially want to acknowledge the leadership of Senator McCain of Arizona who introduced the Native American Languages Act (NALA) in 1990.
