Madam Speaker, I have heard today how much my colleagues on the other side wish to make this an open and transparent process and ``this is for we, the people.'' I would really like to believe that. Yet, after they introduced the resolution, they have another full week of hearings behind closed doors, and they have scheduled another full week of hearings behind closed doors. If this is about transparency, then open it up. If you want the American people to see it, open it up. Give Members access to the transcripts. Let the media into the room. Let us participate. Failing to do so denies transparency. Mr. McGOVERN. Madam Speaker, I am proud to yield 1 minute to the gentleman from California (Mr. DeSaulnier), a distinguished member of the Rules Committee. Mr. DeSAULNIER. Madam Speaker, I rise in strong support of this resolution. Madam Speaker, from the very start of this inquiry, the White House has obstructed the House of Representatives. The White House has ignored duly authorized subpoenas and has tried to prevent witnesses from testifying. The White House has also directed other agencies to do the same. The Department of State, the Department of Energy, the Department of Defense, and the Office of Management and Budget all have refused to produce a single document in response to valid subpoenas.
