“If we are to set up a role model for people to work toward in a capitalistic society, and if we are trying to get that message down to the lowest of the people in the economy and say, if you will work hard, this is what will happen, how can we encourage those people to get to where they can get in America? If they work hard, and that is the promise, you can do whatever you want to do in America and you can make it. How can we do that if we take the people at the top rung and say we are going to regulate you to death, and we want these people down here to know that you are the reason why no prosperity gets to you? You see what we are doing? We are doing just exactly the opposite. We should be saying to people at the lower rungs, you can get there at the top. Look at what got them there. Use that as a role model and let the government stay out of the process of drawing attention.”
