I am concerned that we are getting behind, and we are allowing people who don't have our best interests at heart to develop these standards, where the US has generally been a leader in standards development around the world.
We are trying to do something that is actually good for wildlife management and fiscally responsible.
And I do want to make a clarification here. The idea of valuing our natural assets I don't think is a bad idea, and I think the US is probably behind in that, in creating standards.
the policy hasn't worked to save the spotted owl, and we can, in hindsight, decades and decades later, look back and say this was a weaponized rule just to stop management on the forests.
