There is no way to read the election results as they came out as a repudiation of the last 2 months of the last Congress. It clearly has to be seen as a ratification of the last 2 months of the last Congress and what was done. And so it shouldn't take--you know, I'm not always as quick on the uptake as I ought to be, but it shouldn't take me another year and a half to figure that out.
