“I talked about you and people like you in my State of the Union Address. I pointed out--you asked a health care question--if you're on welfare in America today and if you have children or if you're just yourself on welfare, you get covered by a medical program paid for by the Government. If you get off welfare and you go to work in a job that has no health insurance, you start working and paying your taxes so that someone who stayed on welfare can still get health care and you don't get it anymore. It's not fair. And you're right, the best thing we could do to end welfare as we know it is to give everybody health coverage so people would never be encouraged to stay on welfare. Good for you. Thank you for saying that. Public Expectations Mr. Jennings. Mr. President, do you think the people have too high expectations of what you can really accomplish?”
