I commend Senator Hutchison and all those who have worked so diligently on both sides of the aisle and in the House of Representatives to provide relief on this onerous and perverse provision in our Tax Code that puts the institution of marriage in a disadvantageous position and costs American families thousands of dollars each year. It is something that should have been eliminated long ago. I look forward to supporting the Marriage Penalty Relief Act. I hope there will be an overwhelming vote in the Senate for this bill.
