I do not believe we are lowering the bar. In fact, I have no problem in setting a standard for future presidents in official court proceedings that would jeopardize their office for repeated intentional acts of perjury. That is what we are doing, is maintaining a standard. On the other side of the coin, if we fail to act, then we are lowering the standard of conduct that we expect from the chief executive officer of our land not to commit perjury in official proceedings.
