“one thing I believe we agree on is that we want to go in the same direction in protecting privacy. The bottom line here is that, for whatever reason, the bill of the gentleman from Massachusetts (Mr. Markey) is not moving through the Committee on Commerce. Please do not disappoint people who want to do something about privacy by saying we are not going to do anything this year. This is our only opportunity. I hope we can come back and do something in the Committee on Commerce, but I also hope this bill can pass this year, and I ask for my colleagues' support.”
