I signed it at the time because our cases were at a very low point. I knew that it would be overridden by the legislature if I didn`t sign it. I signed it for those reasons that our cases were at a low point. Everything is changed now. And yes, in hindsight, I wish that had not become law.

It's just wrong to undermine our justice system. It's one of the hallmarks of our democracy that we have a strong rule of law and that any person who is aggrieved can go into court and seek justice.

But at the state level, this became baked in with redistricting. And more and more states now have Republican legislatures who will ban or restrict abortions if governors or state officials are not there to veto it.
