During the votes today I was inescapably detained and away handling important matters related to my District and the State of Alabama. If I had been present, I would have voted: ``no'' on H. Res. 315; ``no'' on the Schiff/Smith (WA) Amendment to H.R. 2596; ``yes'' on the Democratic Motion to Recommit H.R. 2596; and ``no'' on final passage of H.R. 2596. ____________________

If this court strikes down these critical provisions, it would not only reverse decades of precedent, but it would also take us back to a dark time in our nation's history, a time when discrimination against minority voters went unchecked.
Our Nation does well only when everyone participates but will falter if we elevate the wealthy, the well-off, and the well-connected above our friends, neighbors, and the countless working Americans.
it is quite disturbing to me to listen to some of the allegations that are going on but, more importantly, the concerted, intentional effort... to actually well-fund efforts to subvert the will of the people for the 2024 election.
This investigation is just one more example of Republicans and President Trump using power of his office to harass and intimidate anyone willing to challenge him.
