I'm going to have to rise to oppose the gentlelady's amendment. The problem with the amendment is it guts the immigration enforcement and it demoralizes the frontline law enforcement personnel. This amendment would actually empower more bureaucrats from Washington to look over the shoulders of the hardworking officers in the field that are trying to keep us safe. So I would urge my colleagues to oppose this amendment, and I yield back the balance of my time.
