Julian Bond: “This is a civil rights issue.”

Full equality means enjoying all of the rights that everybody else in the country enjoys. If everybody else in the country enjoys rights one, two, three and four, you have got to enjoy those rights too.

Of course, it is exactly the same. It's a right that all Americans have and no reason why gay and lesbian people ought not to have these rights too. These are universal rights.

All Americans ought to enjoy civil rights, and whatever the court does today, we are going to move a step closer to everyone enjoying these rights.

I don't think so. I think this -- and African-American communities like every other community in the country, the tide is shifting.
