I think that my personal view is that the greatest danger to the independence of the American judiciary would be a belief on the part of the American people that it is not adhering to that role but is using the power to interpret the words of statutes and the Constitution to advance an agenda, and that would be a great tragedy if that were to happen and people were to lose confidence.
