He is playing with words… It simply looks like a parody of a genuine desire to end the war. He does not want to end the war. I am convinced that this is also why Donbas is not enough for him.

They are slightly on Russia’s side. And by ‘slightly,’ I mean not direct weapons supplies, but a greater openness to them, a greater willingness to help them rather than us – and for a country as large as China, ‘slightly’ means a lot.

We want to end this war as quick as possible. We don’t see now signals from the Russian side that they are ready for this, to end this war. That’s why we have to prepare for the winter.

The sanctions could have helped enormously.
