Last night provided yet more confirmation that Russia perceives any easing of pressure as a signal that it can supposedly keep fighting, that it can supposedly keep dropping bombs on cities. Different signals are needed.

The winter package is not only energy, it’s also air defense and funding.
They are slightly on Russia’s side. And by ‘slightly,’ I mean not direct weapons supplies, but a greater openness to them, a greater willingness to help them rather than us – and for a country as large as China, ‘slightly’ means a lot.
