We are committed to making changes so that Pip can fulfil its purpose for disabled people and those with long-term conditions, both now and into the future.

This interim report delivers a clear message: while PIP is widely valued as a benefit, it is not working as intended and needs fundamental change.

My view is that the current level of spending is not a great concern. What would be a concern would be if it carried on going up forever more.

We're certainly going to be looking fairly at how these decisions are being made, and the question of fiscal sustainability for the benefit is going to be a concern as we reach these decisions.
