Pat McFadden: “I think we owe people more than that”

The UK labour market is in a robust position but there has been a long-term challenge for young people.

We are trying to get the system to ask: ‘How do we help you live your fullest life? How do we maximise your opportunities?’

Yes, we would. We don’t want a situation where young people in America have got a higher rate of protection than young people in the UK.

That is a system failure which has failed our young people. We should learn from their approach of having a pathway for every young person.
