Prison should keep violent and repeat offenders away from the law-abiding public.

Prison works. It works by punishing and deterring, but most importantly by incapacitating.

The fact that victims have been withdrawing their cases because they have taken too long has been a disgrace.

Emergency primary legislation as soon as Parliament returns in September is the only way to permanently exclude killers - like the killers of PC Harper - child abusers and grooming gang members from early release.

Labour’s early release scheme is catastrophic. Victims should not have to live in fear all summer waiting for a review.
