The EHRC practice fails everyone and effectively pushes trans people out of public life, it subjects all women to gender policing based on stereotypes, and it does not provide clarity to organisations that want to be trans-inclusive.

The government must hear the scale of rebellion within the Labour benches on this issue.

The scrutiny period for the EHRC's draft Code of Practice ends this week. This Code will enforce trans people's segregation, out them to others, and put them at increased risk of harassment, abuse and violence.
