Louise Sandher-Jones: “Certainly when I left the Army and found out I was in the strategic reserve, I just filed it away and never thought…”

The UK stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Ukraine, and we will continue to provide the support it needs to defend itself against Russian aggression.

We are definitely no longer in that space - the strategic reserve is a real commitment for those who are in it, and they will be exercised as part of our exercise programme next year.

Project Brakestop shows what happens when we combine that commitment with the talent and ingenuity of British industry.

The exercise in 2027 will go through measures to call out, to use and equip procedures to mobilise retired troops at scale should it ever be needed.
