I have discussed this with the minority leader. I gave a similar plan, and I said it is not so much whether it is this plan or that plan, we must have a single select committee. We thought about a standing committee, and we said: No, that is going too far. You know and I know that if you tread on the turf of an important committee chairman, they will say no to the leadership. That is precisely what has happened. I am not going to get specific, but we have been working on this for 6 months to a year, and if we just get into personalities and turf fights, there ought to be a way to work this out. So this select committee would prioritize and coordinate with Tom Ridge. My word, if he can do it with 40 agencies, we can do it here with all the subcommittees and committees we have in the Senate. If we do not, we will not be part of the answer.
