The job of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport goes further: to determine whether the merger is in the public interest. It most certainly is not.

I hope he wins. I hope he comes back to Westminster to help us bring the issues that matter to people right up front and centre as part of this government.

She is correct to investigate this major threat to the UK’s public interest.
