David Lammy: “Look, Mr vice president, you're wrong about this.”

For centuries, the law failed to protect women from violence at the hands of their partner – whether from marital rape or from abuse behind closed doors. Whilst we’ve made significant progress, we need to continue righting these wrongs.

I spoke to the Vice President yesterday. I wanted to emphasise a number of things. The first is that our democratic process is working well.

He lists an amazing record in two years, and we've got three more to go.

The intensive supervision courts are a key plank of reducing reoffending that is cost-effective.
