Alex Norris: “If we drew it any wider we would have a prison capacity crisis.”

Offenders should carry the consequences of their crimes, not their victims.

Our plan will make sure this never happens again by building 14,000 prison places while subjecting offenders to the toughest-ever controls, leaving them nowhere to hide and under no doubt that we are watching them.

Were we not to make these changes, then we would run out of prison places in this October or November. I know that’s difficult. I know that’s created harm, and it’s not Lissie Harper’s fault, and I’m sorry that she’s been put into this…

It is really important to express that this shouldn't be where it is.
