I appreciate the nonpartisanship of getting the time from the Republican side because I want to remind the House of the tragedy that took place in Louisville, KY, at the Standard Gravure plant. People were working when a disgruntled former employee came in with one of these weapons and killed eight people. He wounded horribly my wife's first cousin. I introduced a ban on these weapons in 1989 in Kentucky. I would be embarrassed to be a part of this body when it is repealed. I stand with our police, with our police chiefs, and with the American people and urge defeat of this repeal.
