At a time when federal agents are sowing chaos in Chicago, the Trump administration is holding bipartisan funding hostage.

Right when we are finally on the brink of moving forward, Trump just cut off the funding.

It's the exact message that he wants to send, which is you're not welcome here. They've been trying to basically push out any diversity in our military, which actually makes our military less capable, less ready to defend Americans.

On the Democratic side, we think this is a battle worth fighting.

While Chicagoans and visitors are enjoying another gorgeous Sunday, they are being intimidated by masked federal agents flaunting automatic weapons for no apparent reason.

As authoritarians, Trump, Noem, Miller, and the rest of the Administration are abusing their power to silence dissent.

This is not making anybody safer — it’s a show of intimidation, instilling fear in our communities and hurting our businesses.

We have to stand up for Dreamers and immigrants and protect our civil and constitutional rights.

There are no ifs, ands or buts about it, the central premise of our democratic system is that we have to be able to disagree and have sometimes really contentious debates without resorting to violence.

There's been some confusion, I think, around this lately, and frankly, coming from the White House and some of the other positions of authority that suggest, even before we had determined who the perpetrator of this evil act was, that…

And that's a mistake as well.

Those are all topics that we have to be able to discuss honestly and forthrightly, while we still insist that in that process of debate, we respect other people's right to say things that we profoundly disagree with.

This is a part of his plan to do something really nefarious, which is to interfere with elections in 2026.

This kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy.

Political violence unfortunately has been ratcheting up in this country.

There are people who are fomenting it [political violence] in this country. I think the president’s rhetoric often foments it.
