We have to invest in and push for bold electric vehicle policy as a pathway to economic opportunity for our country and a way to address climate change.

Misinformation and deliberate disinformation have consequences, and we have lived through those consequences.

We have committed to being carbon neutral by 2050, a goal that is aggressive and means that we are going to have to work together to achieve it.

We need policies that will uplift communities that are disproportionately impacted by the transition, address environmental justice, and tackle climate change.

Many of these communities, Mr. Chairman, were already in survival mode before this pandemic, and now are really, truly suffering.

It is clear that this violent, coordinated attack was the result of a massive and historic intelligence failure.

Our goal today is to begin to understand where those breakdowns and failures occurred and to determine if there are policy and structural changes Congress must make to prevent a future attack of this nature.

The time to act really is now, and I would like you to speak to the importance of this issue.

We owe it to the American people to figure out how the United States Capitol, the preeminent symbol of democracy around the world, could be overtaken by an angry, violent mob.
