There was a time when the humanity of an unborn child could plausibly be dismissed as philosophical conjecture. Today we know it is a biologic fact.

These laws matter. I can point to several instances in which, absent such laws, university or hospital policies would have forced medical personnel to perform abortions.

This bill would prohibit restricting abortions based on the reasons for the abortion.

How does Congress have the authority to do that?

We have a very important report coming out from the FDA, an amendment that I authored in the FDA Safety and Innovation Act that we passed, that is going to require an action plan for more participation of women in drug clinical trials…

I believe the incentive model of growth works.

We can choose life, and when this debate finally 1 day ends, I think we will. I think we will choose life.

Given the current fiscal reality, we have to find ways to provide high quality care at greater value and lower cost, all without adding to the deficit.

this bill makes a pretty clear statement that there is nothing unique about abortion, nothing that makes it different from any other medical procedure.
