As the at-large representative for the state of South Dakota, I have the privilege of representing nine tribal nations.

These kinds of statistics are one of the reasons I recently introduced H.R. 1924, the Tribal Law and Order Act of 2009.

It is time, it is well past time for Congress to take action.

Adequate funding for tribal law enforcement, detention, tribal courts and rehabilitation and treatment services simply must be a higher priority.

I think that the VA has done a remarkable job in many instances, given some of the Medical Centers that I have had a chance to visit...

I think that is something that I can discuss with Secretary Shinseki, working with Mr. Michaud, working with you, working with Mr. Brown on this Subcommittee.

Well, importantly, the 14-day provision, in my bill, that was recommended by the Women's Advisory Committee.

I believe my bill will help the VA better meet the specialized needs and develop new systems to better provide for the health care of women veterans.

But I do think that this bill is important because it provides the type of guidance, as well as authorizes the resources necessary.

I'm just wanting some clarification, in light of the different manner in which payment will be made.

Everyone feels the effects of the recession.

I think it's important that consumers be aware of the protections that are afforded them under the law.

But that there are things based upon industry input that say these are good actors and these are the things that good actors do.

Yes. Yes. Exactly.

I guess the only suggestion I would make is that there are, it is not like if you're on the list you fall off the list because you've fallen into the bad actor category or you're doing something that is fraudulent out there.

It's important that consumer protection laws are in force as intended by the Congress.

The 'Women Veterans Health Care Improvement Act,' which I introduced on February 26, 2009, will take important steps to expand and improve Department of Veterans Affairs health care services for women veterans.
