I thank the Chairman, and I thank my friend from Connecticut too for highlighting that because it is expanding because it works, and we need to keep doing that.

Those who risk their lives in defense of our country deserve positive and fulfilling lives, and the Federal Government has the responsibility to assist them in their endeavor.

It seems like you and the rest of the SEC staff are well-versed in congressional oversight and responsibilities are very well-equipped.

I do think it would make sense for us as a body... to try to focus on tax policy that is a bipartisan approach.

Some might suspect that the SEC is using your congressional oversight experience as a weapon to block us at every turn.

It cannot be ignored that that area is rising in its importance.

Given the Republican overreach we have seen, and I dare say we will see today, a better title for this hearing would be, 'Republican Micromanagement of the SEC Run Amok.'
