I know him from working with him in the Senate before he became secretary. I have no reason to think that he's not telling me the truth. But my motto, as with Ronald Reagan, is trust but verify.

What appears to have happened is that there now has been ... somewhat of an increase of ICE activities before the additional training and body-worn cameras were deployed.

There's been some discussion earlier about the importance of analytical integrity. Telling truth to power.

But to be fair to the Department of Homeland Security, they couldn’t enter into contracts when the government was shut down by the Democrats.

This incident shows how imperative it is that we have a mandate for body-worn cameras.

They don’t have them yet. The orders were placed, but they couldn’t [process] the orders when the government was shut down.

For years, we've known that Social Security faces serious long-term financial challenges, yet Congress has repeatedly chosen to look the other way.

I said, “I'm going to say that you have committed to me that this investigation will be full, fair and transparent. Can I say that? He said, “Yes, absolutely.”

This legislation creates a bipartisan process to ensure Congress finally does its job.

It's a tragedy for our country that we're going through this process that's based on a phony premise.

I think it's very frustrating to the American people that we cannot get a straight answer on what the war is costing, not to mention what it has cost and is costing to the American people at the gas pump and in other costs.
