let's get the data from this group to show who has access and who doesn't; get it separated by those minority and disadvantaged farmers, as well as the young and small farmers.

It is clear that we are still having those issues.

I applaud this Committee and Senator Tom Udall for taking action on the quality of education Native American students, families and Native nations receive.

We are not even really having the decency to maintain all of the infrastructure that previous generations have built and given to us.

Around here it's become more and more politically difficult for many of my colleagues to honestly pay for things.

We can and must do more for our children.

They are telling the elders who have spoken this language sometimes for 70 or 80 years that they have to go back and get a degree in order to learn how to teach the language to the younger people?

That is a big barrier.

Have you seen improvements over this time or do you think the current state of education for Native students is worse than a decade ago?

We want to do everything we can to ensure that the children in Indian country have the best education possible.

My bill, the Esther Martinez Native American Languages Preservation Act provides grants to Native American language and educational organizations to help preserve dying Native languages in Indian country.

We really have to work on that one.

I am beginning to feel or be a little concerned that maybe that importation is a bit premature.

I have to say I really applaud that we have a robust surveillance, education, and monitoring system here.

I applaud your efforts. And I would, with the chair's discretion, just encourage you balance accountability with incentivizing and creating a clear operating system.

Can you quickly share how this database would support our efforts to expand access to rural and tribal communities, as well as penetration elsewhere?
