They want the American people to be scared. They want us to feel threatened.

This is not only a moral failing to asylum seekers fleeing persecution. It also defies existing laws.

We cannot and should not do that.

Meanwhile, President Biden has shown that we can lower the number of unauthorized border crossings while still treating migrants with dignity and humanity.

What we do know is that the MAGA Republican plan will shut down asylum to everyone, including those fleeing Communist totalitarian regimes and young children who are crossing the border alone to flee gang violence.
