My department administers €1.6 billion worth of payments over the course of the next four months that farmers expect at a certain set time for the different activities that they're carrying out. And I can't do anything to undermine the scheduling of them or to delay in any way those payments.

Many farm organisations also called for flexibilities on a range of measures, which will be kept under review.
The current situation is adding costs on affected farms and I would encourage farmers to engage with their banks, merchants and coops on any cash flow concerns.
The call from farm organisations for additional supports will be considered when the full picture is available and in the context of Budget 2027.
