Friedrich Merz: “We must now show that we are in a position to act independently in Europe.”

Die Mittel, die uns zur Verfügung stehen, sind allerdings begrenzt.

We experience attacks every day, for example, on our data networks. We see the damage and destruction of submarine cables … We have a completely different dimension and a completely different transition between peace and war.

We can bring the UK closer to Europe.

This is a task for our society as a whole, and it is one I intend to play my part in.
