Sean Fraser: “I expect that this appointment will be made imminently… we’ll be moving as quick as we possibly can.”

I’ll reiterate that the stats are certainly encouraging news, and I would say it reflects the hard work of law enforcement across the country who are working every day to keep our communities safe.

I have no reservations about the quality of candidates who are going to come through the process.

Our responsibility is to make sure Canadians can trust their justice system, and that means, in rare cases, returning cases to the courts for new information to be considered.

I’m highly confident that we will find a highly skilled jurist that will fill the vacancy that Justice Martin leaves.
