We can all agree we would like the scheme to work better than it is currently, but that is on Big Tech taking the Mickey.

Based on the regular updates I receive from the eSafety Commissioner, it is clear to me that social media platforms are adopting tricks straight out of the big tech playbook and doing the bare minimum to get by.

We believe it's only fair that large digital platforms contribute to the hard work of journalism that enriches their feeds and that drives their revenue.

These (draft) changes ensure that the eSafety Commissioner has the tools and powers she needs to hold platforms to account and we're making sure that she can do just that.
