My confidence in his integrity has not been shaken, and in fact, it has been strengthened by his courageous conduct and his ability--even though he is controversial at times, as I am over the past 4 1/2 years.

We have got to maintain the respect of America throughout the world.

Why did you wait so long to order in the B-52's?

We cannot expect to have good neighbors, however, unless we are ready to be good neighbors.

And we can contribute a great deal to the quality of our existence and to the vitality of our society by doing all we can to revive and strengthen the place of neighborliness in our daily lives.

This principle of confidentiality of Presidential conversations is at stake in the question of these tapes.

We must not stay so mired in Watergate that we fail to respond to challenges of surpassing importance to America and the world.
