Cooperate fully with the Governors' Conference in support of its recent report and resolution on highway transportation.

Immediate and continuing action is required to conserve manpower, equipment, and materials in every field of production and to develop maximum efficiency in the use of all highway transportation facilities.

Truth must prevail throughout the world, if we are to have just and lasting peace.

We must make ourselves heard round the world in a great campaign of truth.

Because of the pressing need to increase our efforts along this line, I have directed the Secretary of State to plan a strengthened and more effective national effort to use the great power of truth in working for peace.

We must make ourselves known as we really are--not as communist propaganda pictures us.

We must pool our efforts with those of the other free peoples in a sustained, intensified program to promote the cause of freedom against the propaganda of slavery.

It is clear that we could not possibly make available the installations and trained military manpower to put a universal training program into operation at this time or in the immediately foreseeable future.

I am just as strongly in favor of it today as I have ever been.

Their reports were most satisfactory and highly gratifying to me.

I am very much in favor of universal training legislation.

The record will show that for the past five years I have repeatedly recommended that the Congress enact legislation of this character.

Accordingly, I hope that your Committee will continue its active consideration of this legislation with a view to seeking final action on it in January.
