My district in northeast Wisconsin has a lot of rural roads.
In 2016, nearly 6,000 pedestrians died in collisions with highway vehicles in the U.S. That is an average of 16 per day.
Because it would be a lot easier for us up here to advocate for more money for you if we knew it was being well spent.
A ton of money has been wasted. And a lot of the problems, I submit, on the F-35... could have been reduced if we knew what we were spending...
I know you and many others on this subcommittee have been tireless advocates for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.
Anyone who has visited the Great Lakes knows they are a national treasure.
These lakes, however, provide for more than just our economy. They provide for a way of life.
I view to be, I mean, perhaps the most important one we face right now.
