I am proud of Virginia's recognized Indian Tribes and their contributions to our Commonwealth.
Congress has the power to recognize Native American Tribes. And it has exercised this power in the past.

It is my hope that this Committee will move quickly to approve S. 1074.
We need to ensure that the Lumbee Tribe receives the recognition it deserves.

I very much appreciate the opportunity to be here to talk about this important recognition of Virginia tribes.
