I have not made the final decision. I'm giving it serious consideration. I'm not determined to enter the race but I have determined to set the pace, to set the priorities, and I can say to you because of our numbers, our loyalty and our public policy issues, there should be a black on that ticket.

The code word for racism in this campaign has been the bus. It’s not the bus, it’s us. I think that the fundamental issue is not political or legal; it’s a moral question. Will white American leadership have the moral integrity and fortitude to stand by its own Constitutional decisions? It’s really a question of race.

What was missed by and large in news commentary was that the only reason we know anything about Rodney King is a white man named George Holliday filmed the beating and took it public. Had George Holliday not had the quickness of thought and the character to take the film public we would have never known of Rodney King.
