Lamar Smith is a former Republican member of the United States House of Representatives, representing Texas's 21st congressional district from 1987 to 2019. During his tenure, he served as the chairman of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, where he focused on issues related to science policy, technology, and innovation. Smith was known for his advocacy of scientific research and development, as well as his support for policies aimed at promoting economic growth through technological advancements.
These cases, and many like them, have wrongly cost innocent people and business owners their reputations and even hundreds of thousands of dollars.
There is no more important issue this Subcommittee can address than that of preserving jobs for American workers.
We cannot ignore the adverse impact of mass low-skilled immigration and the lack of enforcement of our immigration laws.
We should design our immigration policy so that it enhances, rather than diminishes, opportunities for American workers.
It is my personal opinion that someone over at the White House seems to have very little interest in working with the Congress.
