I would like to submit for the record, Madam Chairman, a study by four economists...
Kevin Brady
The Public Record
Kevin Brady is a Republican politician from Texas, best known for his role as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served from 1997 to 2021. During his tenure, he held significant positions, including Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, where he played a key role in shaping tax policy and economic legislation. Brady was instrumental in the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, which aimed to reduce taxes for individuals and businesses. He has also been an advocate for various initiatives related to trade, healthcare, and education.
The Administration's unduly optimistic economic assumptions are a major problem.
But I would just caution this Committee against such frivolous charges on such a serious subject.
I think this is a bipartisan problem. Pending cases and the backlogs have not materially improved over the last 2 years under Democrat control of the House and the Senate.
I think we all have a responsibility to taxpayers and the truly disabled to make sure these precious dollars aren't lost to fraud and those who are gaming the system.
There's too much secrecy in this TARP as it is, and we need transparency and accountability and results from the Congressional Oversight Panel on this important issue.
When President Bush first proposed it and the Democrat Congress led the effort to approve it, it was believed that the Congressional Oversight Panel would be the eyes and ears of this nation and of this Congress.
The basic question of how is our money being spent and what are the results, is still unresolved.
The administration's solution to the problems posed by this excessive debt burden is to propose an avalanche of more deficit spending.
But the economy doesn't send the President spending bills, does it? This Congress sends the President spending bills.
