John Ratcliffe is a Republican politician from Texas who served as the Director of National Intelligence from May 2020 to January 2021. He was previously a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Texas's 4th congressional district from 2015 to 2020. During his time in Congress, Ratcliffe was known for his strong support of President Donald Trump and his focus on national security and intelligence issues. He played a prominent role in various investigations related to the Trump administration and was a vocal critic of the impeachment proceedings against Trump.
Thank you. I want to follow up, because I do not know if it came out of PCAST or if it came out of the National Commission on Forensic Science, but recently, DOJ has made a number of changes in policy that impact what you all do every day.
I guess I want to start and ask your opinion on that report: whether you think it has the scientific rigor, if you will, to defend its foundational validity.
The Department of Justice did conclude that they should abandon, to the extent possible, the term 'reasonable scientific certainty.'

We need the funding in order to undergo universal accreditation for forensic science providers in the country.
