Madam Speaker, I yield myself the balance of my time for the purpose of closing. As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and that is undoubtedly true in global health. We have seen firsthand the dangers of a lack of preparedness. Today's legislation will prepare a coordinated response for future pandemics. I give a special thank you to Mr. Connolly for authoring this important legislation and, of course, I thank Mr. McCaul of Texas and the others who have worked in a bipartisan way to get this bill to the floor today. Madam Speaker, I yield back the balance of my time. The SPEAKER pro tempore (Ms. Jackson Lee). The question is on the motion offered by the gentleman from Texas (Mr. Castro) that the House suspend the rules and pass the bill, H.R. 2166, as amended. The question was taken; and (two-thirds being in the affirmative) the rules were suspended and the bill, as amended, was passed. A motion to reconsider was laid on the table. ____________________
